Coordinates: is a showcase selection from ICAW Harlech Biennale 2005. The project set down some coordinates for 18 artists from regions of Europe to work in Wales out of the studio as a sort of plein air activity in the landscape around Harlech. Under pressure of time and the unfamiliarity of place the urgency to communicate sometimes leads to desperation, and that always present ‘credibility gap’ has to be explored to express something personal or maybe more global. Alongside the Residencies an exhibition was held, curated to indicate coordinates between the object and the idea.

A selection of works by artists involved on the Residencies and in the exhibition at Galeri Caernarfon including new work by Peter Finnemore internationally acclaimed Welsh artist who represented Wales at the 2005 Venice Biennale. Reiko Aoyagi based in Cardiff who produced work on the Harlech International Artists Residencies 2005. Reiko will be producing a new work developed from ideas of her site specific landscape work at Lasynys Fawr, Harlech.

The exhibition will be open to the public - 28 November until 15 December 2005. The preview - 27 November at 7pm.
The AirSpace Gallery open - Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm.

Lawrence Weiner’s Schema:

1. The artist may construct the piece
2. The piece may be fabricated.
3. The piece need not be built.

Each being equal and consistent with the intent of the artist, the decision as to condition rests with the receiver upon the occasion of the receivership.
